HARRISBURG – Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon) today announced approval of an $11 million PENNVEST loan for the Keystone Protein Company of Fredericksburg to aid in construction of a new wastewater treatment plant.

“This loan will help improve the processes at the company and will aid the environment as well,” said Diamond. “This is a sound investment for our region.”

Diamond said the loan will be used for the new wastewater plant construction that will include an improved sludge processing method, sand filtration and a high efficiency chemical treatment system for phosphorus removal. The project will bring the company in compliance with a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Consent Order.

PENNVEST is a program created by the Legislature to assist with funding sewer, storm water and drinking water projects throughout the Commonwealth. These projects not only contribute to improving Pennsylvania’s environment and the health of its people, but also provide opportunities for economic growth and jobs for Pennsylvania’s workers.
