HARRISBURG – Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon) today announced that the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission (PHMC) approved a $4,000 Cultural and Historical Support Grant to both the Historic Shaefferstown Inc. and the Lebanon County Historical Society.

“I’m pleased that the PHMC recognizes the historic and cultural significance of the Historic Schaefferstown Inc. nonprofit and the Lebanon County Historical Society to our local community in Lebanon County and the Commonwealth,” said Diamond. “This funding will help continue the important educational opportunities provided by Historic Schaefferstown, as well as the preservation efforts of the Lebanon County Historical Society, which are invaluable in maintaining our rich cultural heritage and building a strong community.”

The PHMC approved almost $2 million in Cultural and Historical Support Grants to 153 eligible museums and official county historical societies from 58 Pennsylvania counties.

The goal of this program is to strengthen Pennsylvania’s museum community by supporting the general operations of eligible museums and official county historical societies that are not supported by other state agency funding programs. An eligible museum must have an annual operating budget exceeding $100,000 (excluding capital and in-kind services) and at least one full-time professional staff person (or approved equivalent).
