Bridge Dedicated for Fallen Vietnam Veteran John Chrin, Diamond Says

October 3, 2025

JONESTOWN – Signage unveiled this week designates a bridge on Pa. Route 934 in East Hanover Township as the WO1 John Stephen Chrin Memorial Bridge, according to Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon).

Diamond sought the commemoration to honor the heroics of Army Warrant Officer John Chrin, a Lebanon County native who died Oct. 13, 1971, when the aircraft he was piloting crashed in Vietnam. Chrin and four others were attempting to rescue a wounded man.

“My hope is the signs on this bridge will serve as a permanent reminder of John’s leadership, bravery and commitment to our nation. His selflessness and sacrifice must always be remembered,” Diamond said.

Attendees at the dedication ceremony included Phil Arnold, an Army veteran who holds an annual remembrance ceremony for Chrin, as well as William Sypher from The Friends of Vietnam DUSTOFF, an organization building public awareness about combat medical evacuation missions.

Diamond’s measure for the bridge naming was amended into Act 17 of 2025
