Historic Schaefferstown Inc. Awarded State Grant, Lawmakers Say
December 12, 2025
SCHAEFFERSTOWN – A $9,000 grant awarded this week by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission will support Historic Schaefferstown Inc. as it provides educational programs about archaeology, Pennsylvania German dialect and other topics, according to Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon) and Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-Lancaster/Lebanon).
The commission awarded grants across 59 counties to support programs not directly supported by other state agencies. Historic Schaefferstown Inc. sought funding to help with its insurance costs.
“This organization preserves much of the history of the Pennsylvania Germans in our region. Its interactive classes appeal to everyone from older adults to children as young as fourth grade,” Diamond said.
“Historic Schaefferstown Inc. does a tremendous job in recognizing and preserving our community’s rich heritage and traditions for future generations. I’m happy to see this grant will go towards fulfilling that mission,” Gebhard said.
Founded in 1966, Historic Schaefferstown Inc. develops programming with a board of directors, one part-time employee and a team of volunteers. Its cultural events are designed to provide experiences in memorable ways.
