Grants, Loans to Support Water Infrastructure, Diamond Says

July 15, 2026

HARRISBURG – More than $12 million in state funding will support two water infrastructure projects affecting people who live and work in the 102nd District, according to Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon).

“Access to safe, clean drinking water is part of what makes Pennsylvania communities appealing to long-term residents and newcomers alike. This funding will help the local municipal authorities provide that key service while doing so without overburdening taxpayers and water customers,” he said.

The Fredericksburg Sewer and Water Authority will receive a grant of more than $6.4 million and a low-interest loan of nearly $4.6 million to construct a centralized water filtration plant at the site of a decommissioned wastewater treatment facility. The project will improve system reliability and reduce manganese contamination in the water supply.

The Womelsdorf-Robesonia Joint Authority was awarded a low-interest loan of nearly $1.2 million to rehabilitate the Furnace Creek water storage tank, which has reached the end of its service life. Improvements include cleaning and recoating the tank, repairing deteriorated welds, replacing the roof vent and mesh screen, and completing additional upgrades to prevent leaks. The project will help maintain reliable water service and fire protection for area residents.

“Reliable water service is a critical piece of building strong, vibrant communities,” said Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-Lebanon/Berks/Lancaster). “Ensuring our infrastructure is operational is a key function of government, and I’m pleased this funding is dedicated to that purpose.”

The funding was approved through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), which provides low-cost financial assistance for projects that improve drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure while protecting public health, supporting environmental stewardship and promoting economic development.
