Voting is a Responsibility

During House floor debate June 27 on election code bill Senate Bill 48, Diamond made an impassioned speech in favor of the legislation. The representative touted two major initiatives of the bill. The bill offers more appropriations than what the governor requested to replace county voting machines. SB 48 authorizes the Pennsylvania Economic Development Financing Authority (PEDFA) to issue bonds for up to $90 million to provide funding for counties to replace voting systems. The legislation also eliminates the straight party voting option for voters and the requirement that voting systems used in the Commonwealth must offer the straight party voting option to voters.
